We have a real soft spot for rabbits at Bicester Vets and with the official Rabbit Awareness Week – RAW just around the corner, we wanted to do a bit more.

iconAND FINALLY once again we will be running our RAW colouring competition for kids – details below.

Prize Draw

Bicester Vets provided veterinary care for Cheese & Biscuit the Langford Village Primary School rabbits for many years. Now that they are sadly gone, the school has clubbed together to raise some money as a thank you for their treatment over the years.

So in memory of Cheese & Biscuit, we are using this money to buy some prizes for Rabbit Awareness Week.

Any rabbit seen during Bicester Vets’ Rabbit Awareness Month, whether it be for one of our discounted examinations or for vaccination, will be entered into the prize draw and could be the lucky winner of one of our great prizes!

Vaccinations

Rabbits can be protected against 3 deadly diseases by vaccinating them in time.

The diseases are:
iconMyxomatosis
iconRabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD) Types 1 and 2

Covering all 3 diseases means 2 visits to have a vaccination with a 2 week break in between. Outbreaks of these conditions usually occur in the late summer and autumn when the wild rabbit population has increased dramatically – though they can occur at any time.

The combined price of both injections saves you around 20% but during June 2017 there is an extra 10% off this cost.

Flystrike

With the warmer weather we are enjoying comes the increased risk of flystrike, where flies lay eggs on dirty or wet skin. These rapidly hatch into maggots which cause a life-threatening, emergency condition.

We recommend using our sponge on product now, to give 10 weeks protection against maggot development.

We are offering this at 10% discount over Rabbit Awareness Month.

Healthy Pets Plan

Bicester Vets Healthy Pets is a preventative healthcare plan which gives great benefits. A small monthly Direct Debit covers the cost of standard annual vaccination, an extra 6 month veterinary health-check and a yearly flystrike prevention product.

There is a discount built in plus other discounts including:
icon50% discount on RHD2 vaccination
icon10% off any food purchases for your rabbit
iconFREE microchipping
iconDuring Rabbit Awareness Month, any new rabbits joining the plan will receive a £5 voucher to spend at Bicester Vets.

We have a fun colouring competition running for children. There’ll be prizes for the best pictures in different age groups.

You can download the picture here or come in to the practice to collect your copy. We’ll judge the competition in early July and contact people by phone – we would love to take photos of any prize winners to post on our Facebook page, so make sure you are OK with that before entering.

We look forward to seeing you and your rabbit during Rabbit Awareness Month

To all our devoted rabbit owners; we thought we’d share Creamy’s story with you. She came into Bicester Vets quite a few years ago now, but her story lives on….

Creamy recovered from her broken front leg and was hopping about normally…… however, when she escaped and injured her leg, she had an encounter with Mr Rabbit and she ended up the proud mother of four kittens!!
